MyCare Portal Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is the MyCare Portal?

The Ryan Health Network uses a secure electronic medical record (EMR) for patients’ medical information. Our MyCare Portal gives you direct access, through a secure website, to some of your personal health information in the EMR. The MyCare Portal also allows you to:

  • Request or cancel appointments
  • View future and past appointments
  • View your visit summaries
  • Request a refill of prescriptions
  • View some of your lab results

2. How do I register for the MyCare Portal?

If you are a registered Ryan Network patient and have an active email address, you can request access to the Portal by speaking with any Patient Services Representative. Please call 212-749-1820 and inform the representatives that you would like online access to your MyCare Portal (at this time, patients who are 13-17 years of age are not able to use the Patient Portal).

3. How do I get to the MyCare Portal?

Once you have a user name and password, you can get to the MyCare Portal directly from our website www.ryancenter.org by clicking on the “MyCare Portal” icon.

4. Does anyone else have access to my personal health information in the MyCare Portal?

If you are an adult patient, only YOU or your legal guardian (if any) has access to your personal health information in the MyCarePortal.

5. How does the Ryan Health Network protect the information I enter through the MyCare Portal?

From time to time, you may wish to enter additional personal information about your medical care through the MyCare Portal. All of the information you enter will be subject to the same privacy protections and only accessed by providers according to the Network’s Notice of Privacy Practices. All of the personal health information of our patients is maintained on secure servers on-site in accordance with the applicable regulations of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and the Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health Act (HITECH).

6. Do I have a role in protecting my personal health information?

Yes. Just as with on-line banking, you can keep personal information on the MyCare Portal secure and confidential by:

  • Never sharing your user name and password
  • Always “logging off” when you are done using the MyCare Portal
  • Resetting your password if you suspect the security of your log-on has been compromised.

You may also contact Patient Services to disable your account.

7. What if I forget my password?

No problem. There are two ways to deal with that:

  1. You can reset your own password on-line by answering the security questions you set when you signed up initially. You will then receive an email with the information needed to reset your password.
  2. You may also contact the Patient Services Department at:
  • William F. Ryan/Ryan Women & Children’s Center (212) 749-1820
  • Ryan-NENA Community Health Center (212) 477-8500
  • Ryan/Adair Community Health Center (212) 222-5221
  • Ryan/Chelsea-Clinton Community Health Center (212) 265-4500

8. It says my account is “locked”. What do I do?
