RN UNIT COORDINATOR

The William F. Ryan Community Health Network is a group of not-for-profit, federally qualified health centers (FQHCs) that delivers high quality, affordable and comprehensive medical care to diverse and underserved communities. We are currently seeking an RN Unit Coordinator for our community health Center located on the West 97th Street on the Upper West Side of Manhattan.

Position Overview:

The RN Unit Coordinator assists in managing all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the Medical Department, which is comprised of Adult Medicine and Specialties. Day-to-day operations include clinical and administrative supervision of clinical staff, scheduling of patients, and monitoring of patient flow, including but not limited to the Residency Program. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of the Ryan Network.

Essential Functions:

  • Day-to-day Operations
  • Assist in overseeing all daily operations of the department including but is not limited to:
  • Develop, implement, and monitor support staff schedules to facilitate smooth functioning of department.
  • Ensure full compliance with regulatory agencies’ standards (Joint Commission, PCMH)
  • Ensure that electronic and paper medical information is kept in a complete, safe, organized and confidential manner. This includes but is not limited to charts, referral forms, and lab slips.
  • Ensure compliance with all HIPAA privacy and security rules and regulations.
  • Work collaboratively with other Unit Managers, and provide coverage in these areas as needed.
  • Ensure that Center policies and procedures are followed.
  • Patient Care
  • Assess and triage walk-in patients to determine urgent/emergent status, and determine appropriate course of action.
  • Provide clinical care to patients when needed, within the scope and expertise of a registered nurse.
  • Practice accepted infection control measures in accordance with OSHA blood borne pathogens standards and the organization’s policies and procedures.
  • Respond to patient complaints and inquiries; direct patients to the appropriate department, or referral source, when necessary.
  • Supervision, Training, Implementation and Oversight.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising (clinically and administratively) all clinical support staff.
  • Assist in providing clinical in-service training on an on-going basis to LPNs and Medical Assistants.
  • Collaborate with management in the department and other departments as necessary to implement, monitor, and evaluate grant objectives, and in developing clinical procedures for medical support staff.
  • Assist in serving as a liaison with other health care and community agencies, social services,schools, etc.
  • Work with the clinical management staff in ensuring that Coumadin and other anticoagulanttherapy is appropriately monitored and tracked.

Other

  • Attend and participate in Center meetings as requested, including but not limited to the Quality Improvement Committee and Supervisors’ meetings.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Experience and Skills Required:

  • Two (2) years experience in ambulatory internal medicine setting (i.e. emergency room, clinic, or health center).
  • Must have demonstrated track record of being organized and able to direct activities in a busy clinic environment.
  • Experience utilizing relevant software, including Electronic Health Record Systems.
  • Willingness and flexibility to work some late hours and Saturdays.
  • Computer literacy in a Microsoft environment: MS Outlook, Word and Excel.

Education, Licenses and/or Certification Required:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
  • Current New York State Registered Nurse (RN) License.Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Prior experience in a multi-site Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or other health careenvironment.
  • Bilingual: English/Spanish or any other language.
