Billing Clerk

Position Overview:

Accurately transcribe and verify data from specific documents, such as encounters, referrals, and Electronic Health Records, into the Center’s main computer system. Perform other data processing tasks as assigned. This work is carried out in support of the mission and goals of Ryan Network.

Essential Functions:

  • Enter and/verify charges from encounter forms or EHR into computer system based on the indicated diagnosis and procedure codes.

  • Process electronic encounters and claims into the appropriate categories prior to claim submission. Monitor open encounters daily.

  • Batch and submit all claims to the appropriate insurance.

  • Keep supervisor informed on status of workload to ensure its timely completion.

  • Retrieve electronic medical charts and /or review EHR to follows-up on incomplete and missing diagnoses codes, as well as missing practitioner signatures.

  • Operate various office machines, including, but not limited to, copier and stamp machine.

  • Verify insurance information, review and correct error reports, and resubmit claims utilizing the Center’s e-Clinical Works/ Practice Management System.

  • Attend all meeting and/or training sessions as required

  • Immediately report any problems or unusual occurrences to supervisor.

  • Perform other special projects and duties as needed.


Minimum Experience and Skills Required:

  • One year of billing experience.

  • Experience with ePaces

  • Familiarity with correction, revision, and control techniques.

  • Knowledge of and/or experience with insurance verification and billing policies and procedures.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.

  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and execute multiple responsibilities.

Education, Licenses and/or Certifications Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalency.

Minimal Training Time:

90-day probationary period
