Focus On…Making Colorectal Cancer Screening Easier Than Ever at Ryan Health Expanding Access, Embracing Technology, and Putting Patients First with Archana Sookhoo, Director of Quality Improvement | Ryan Health

We have some exciting updates to share that are making colorectal cancer screening more accessible, convenient, and efficient. It’s all thanks to our partnership with Exact Sciences Laboratory, the makers of Cologuard®.

Through this collaboration, we’ve brought Cologuard self-collection kits directly onsite at all Ryan Health locations. What started as a pilot at our 97^th Street location expanded to all Ryan Health locations, which are fully equipped with Cologuard kits available for immediate patient pick-up.

You no longer have to wait for your kit to arrive in the mail. You can walk out of your visit with a test in hand, ready to complete at your convenience.

But we didn’t stop there. Every Ryan Health location is now also an official Cologuard UPS drop-off site. That makes it easier than ever for you to return your completed kits for processing. We’re eliminating barriers to care and supporting timely screening and diagnosis.

For those who still prefer to receive your kit at home, we’ve introduced the Cologuard Electronic Medical Record (EMR) interface through eClinicalWorks (eCW). With the click of a button, your provider can now electronically submit Cologuard orders. This eliminates the need for nursing and administrative staff to fax paperwork to the lab. You should receive your kit in the mail within 3–4 days.

Even more exciting, this new process allows results to flow directly back into the EMR. That means providers are notified immediately. No more logging into portals or chasing down faxes! We’ve improved efficiency across teams and enhanced our ability to provide timely, coordinated care.

Both the onsite and interface-based processes support self-pay and uninsured patients. We’re reinforcing our commitment to health equity and ensuring colorectal cancer screening is accessible to all, regardless of insurance status.

Training across the network is now complete. We are already seeing results come in from both onsite kit distributions and mail orders. This initiative reflects our ongoing dedication to meeting the needs of our communities while leveraging smart, practical technology to improve workflow and patient outcomes.
