Ryan Health’s School Based-Health Centers (SBHCs) are a convenient way to be sure your kids are getting the healthcare they need. Our SBHCs expand the reach of Ryan Health’s healthcare providers by bringing care right into the schools. Once parents have signed the consent form, their student will be able to utilize health and mental services as needed throughout the school year. We provide a range of services, including:

  • Annual physical exams, including those for sports, camp, and working papers
  • Vaccines
  • Treatment for chronic and acute illnesses
  • Medications and prescriptions
  • Screening for vision, hearing, asthma, obesity, and other medical conditions
  • Referrals for specialty care, if needed
  • Mental health services
  • Age-appropriate reproductive health

Our full team is onsite whenever school is in session. The team includes a Nurse Practitioner (NP), a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or a medical assistant, and a Patient Services Representative. They provide a wide range of services in the SBHCs. Their greatest asset is time savings for parents and students. Parents don’t need to take time out of their busy day to take their kids to a health center, and students receive care right in the school where they spend most of their day.

You can schedule an appointment in advance, but students can also drop by during school hours if they need assistance or have questions.

More Care at Our Health Centers

Our SBHCs are supplemental to the services students can receive at Ryan Health’s centers throughout Manhattan. If you need care for the whole family, or if our SBHC is closed, come into one of our conveniently located health centers. With seven community health centers located around the City, we offer primary care and specially services for children, adults, and seniors.

Ryan Health is one of the oldest Community Health Centers in the country, providing comprehensive primary care that keeps you healthy. We practice holistic care. That means we coordinate care among providers and specialists, if necessary. We look at other factors that impact your health, like housing, transportation, and food insecurity. Our approach is a lifesaver for families and individuals wanting to be sure they receive the best care possible. Click here to see the range of services that are available at our centers.

Ryan Health’s school-based health centers are a great way for students to access needed care during the school day.
