Ryan Health team members visited our state legislators in Albany on March 3 to educate them on our community work. We always advocate for our more than 50,000 patients across Manhattan.
When we visited with our lawmakers we had a simple message: Community health centers like Ryan Health need support. And as always, we received a great reception from legislators. Check out some of the pics of our meetings!
We desperately need rate reform so we can continue to provide care and pay our staff. Our baseline Medicaid reimbursement rate has not changed since 1999. The Urban Institute recently found that our costs exceed our reimbursement rates by 44%. Clearly, this is unsustainable, and continuing without a change will hurt New Yorkers.
We also need parity in payment for telehealth services, which benefit the very sick, the elderly, and people with mobility issues. Community health centers receive one-third the cost of typical rates for these services.
We all want the same thing — a healthier New York. We’re committed to working together to make it happen.
