Ryan Health Celebrates National Health Center Week

National Health Center Week (August 9 – 15) is an annual celebration to raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of America's health centers over the past five decades. The COVID-19 pandemic has shown how resilient health centers and their staffs have been as everyone rose to the occasion to combat this crisis.

Ryan Health is celebrating National Health Center Week this year with virtual workshops to highlight key health and social services to help cope during the pandemic.

Monday, August 10 at 3:00 pm: Let’s Connect: Ryan Health |Here For You Community Resource Hub! : Learn about our new community resource hub that was created to connect people and programs — making it easy for people to find social services in their communities! Our very own Amy-Marie, Quality Improvement Analyst, and Jasdeep Cheema, Associate Director of Application Support and Development, will discuss the importance of accessing social supports. The webinar will be led by Brian McIndoe, our President & CEO, who will be joined by Councilmember Mark Levine, Chair of the New York City Council Health Committee, and Councilmember Carlina Rivera, Chair of the New York City Council Hospital Committee. Tuesday, August 11 at 2:00 pm: Back-to-school Checkups Q & A with Dr. Siddiqui: Current plans call for New York City’s students to be back in class at least part-time this fall, coupled with home learning to round out the school year, though this plan could change. Regardless of the format, Dr. Siddiqui from Ryan Chelsea-Clinton will discuss the requirements all students must meet to maintain their health and be ready to learn. Register here.

Wednesday, August 12 at 1:00 PM: Diabetes: Get Up and Get Moving: Exercise is an important part of any diabetes treatment plan. It can help burn extra sugar in your body, reduce stress, and boost your mood and overall health. Join our certified Diabetes Educator Amy Zarrow and a fitness instructor to learn more about staying fit with diabetes. Register here.

Thursday, August 13 at 1:00 pm: Revive Your Spirit: As we continue to cope and deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, we understand the mental and physical toll it has on New Yorkers. We want to engage our community members and patients in yoga and meditation to promote mental rejuvenation. We will be hosting a virtual yoga and meditation class to facilitate discussions on spirituality and resilience. Register here.
