Ryan Health has expanded our mental health services with the opening of the Emotional Wellness Center Midtown. The new center is at the office of the Alliance for Positive Change, located at 64 West 35th Street. The Alliance has been a Ryan Health partner for many years. It helps those living with HIV and other chronic health conditions. Their services include healthcare, housing, harm reduction, coaching, and economic mobility programs.

“New Yorkers are still coping with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic that brought many changes to their daily lives,” said Daniel Pichinson, MBA, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ryan Health. “Expanding our behavioral health services is one way Ryan Health is smashing health inequities. We’re ensuring all New Yorkers receive the mental health care they need.”

The new location of the Emotional Wellness Center will initially be staffed by one Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), with more LCSWs coming on board to meet patient needs. The Center will offer a range of services, including individual, family, and group therapy. Psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, and play therapies will be used. Services are available for Alliance clients as well as members of the community.

A recent Siena College poll shows that more than one in three New Yorkers has sought mental health care or knows someone who has. And, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene reports that residents still experience COVID-19 pandemic-related mental health impacts. The new Emotional Wellness Center will help New Yorkers address those needs.

“Expanding our Emotional Wellness Center services underscores our commitment and our approach to providing comprehensive healthcare,” said Alicia Henderson, PhD, LCSW, Chief of Behavioral Health at Ryan Health. “Emotional wellness is a critical component of your overall health."

Staff can help evaluate emotional, physical, work, family, relationship, and general “life” health. The goal is to get patients back on track. Staff can also coordinate care with other medical providers, agencies, schools, care managers, and support services. Expanding to the Alliance for Positive Change brings these critical services to even more people in need.
