Ryan Health's Dr. Khemraj Testified On Community-Based Medication Assisted Treatment Programs to Address Opioid Addiction

The question of adequate funding for prevention, treatment, and recovery services was the topic of a public hearing Tuesday, December 11, in New York City chaired by Assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal.

Jaime Khemraj, MD, Director of Medication Assisted Treatment program at Ryan Health, testified that Medication Assisted Treatment, or MAT, is the gold standard of opioid treatment. The goal is to wean patients off deadly and crippling opioids. MAT is an intensive, hands-on medication and counseling program that is proven to save lives.
