RYAN HEALTH CELEBRATES NATIONAL HEALTH CENTER WEEK-- Citywide Events Offer Health Screenings, Vaccines, and Community Resources to Combat Food Insecurity Art, Music, and Dance Highlight Our Diversity of Services

NEW YORK CITY — Ryan Health, a mission-driven network of community health centers in New York City, celebrates National Health Center Week with free testing and screenings for a range of health issues at its Manhattan health centers August 5-9. National Health Center Week celebrates the commitment, passion, and contributions community health centers across the country make to provide quality, comprehensive healthcare services to more than 31.5 million patients.

As part of the celebration, Ryan Health will also provide educational and community resource connections to combat food insecurity and other social drivers of health and nourish the mind with art, dance, and music. This annual event raises awareness of the work community health centers do in providing healthcare and other services to the underserved.

Monday, August 5: Ryan Health | NENA, 279 East 3rd Street

NENA’s Community Arts from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm

Ryan Health | NENA kicks off National Health Center Week with a focus on community arts and health to heal your body and your soul. Our Mobile Health Center will conduct blood pressure screenings and glucose tests, as well as register patients for other critical health services at Ryan Health. At the same time, neighborhood organizations will give away books and book bags, provide interactive art demonstrations, and entertain kids with face painting. Participating organizations include Educational Alliance, Art Club Studios, University Settlement, AT&T, Fidelis Care, New York Public Library, and PSA 4.

Tuesday, August 6: Ryan Health | Wadsworth, 154 Wadsworth Avenue

Legislative Meet and Greet from 9:00 am to 11:00 am

Ryan Health | Wadsworth brings neighborhood leaders and elected officials together with community members for one-on-one conversations and discussions. Enjoy light breakfast and tour our newest Ryan Health location with participants Rep. Adriano Espaillat, State Senator Robert Jackson, the office of Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos, the Latino Commission on AIDS, and the Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation.

Wednesday, August 7: Ryan Chelsea-Clinton, 645 10th Avenue

Our Food Has Roots from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm

Ryan Chelsea-Clinton’s (RCC) annual Our Food Has Roots event addresses food insecurity some members of the community may face. We’ll have a fresh produce giveaway to underscore fruits and vegetables' important role in our daily health. There will also be music and dancing demonstrations with Shape Up NYC! RCC’s Our Food Has Roots is always a large event of National Health Center Week!

Participating organizations include the National Alliance on Mental Illness, Alliance for Positive Change, TransLatinX Network, Healthfirst, Fidelis Care, Encore Community Services, Village Care and Village Care Max, Midtown Community Court, Mayor’s Public Engagement Unit, Shape Up NYC, NYPD Community Affairs, AT&T, and Immigrant Justice Project.

Friday, August 9 Ryan Health | Adair 565 Manhattan Ave. — Courtyard

Bridging Communities with Art and Wellness 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm

Ryan Health | Adair and Frederick Douglass are partnering on Bridging Communities with Art and Wellness. We’re highlighting local community artists, facilitating art workshops, sharing community resources, and conducting health screenings. There will be music performances, face painting, and backpack giveaways! Participating organizations include Verizon, Goddard Riverside, AT&T, Bowen Center, Human Care NY, Ms. Williams Poetry Reading, Anthem, Healthfirst, and National Alliance on Mental Illness.
